What are US Market Movers?

A market mover is a stock whose price and trading activity stand out sharply during a session. AnHot surfaces the 5 most significant movers right now and tries to explain why each one is moving, using recent reporting from reliable financial news sources.

How are the top 5 stocks selected?

AnHot does not simply sort by price change. It ranks each candidate with a Significant Move Score — price move (50%), relative volume (25%), liquidity by dollar volume (15%) and market cap (10%) — so a large cap moving +8% can outweigh a thinly traded stock jumping far more. The top 5 by score are shown, with each move marked as up or down.

How does AnHot determine why a stock is moving?

AnHot first identifies stocks showing significant price and trading activity, then searches recent reliable financial news to identify the most credible reported reason for the move.

Where does the news come from?

AnHot searches recent reporting from Tier 1 sources such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Associated Press, CNBC, Wall Street Journal and Financial Times, supplemented by Barron’s, MarketWatch, Yahoo Finance, Investing.com and Seeking Alpha. Every reason links back to the original article.

How is confidence determined?

Each explanation carries a confidence of HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW or UNKNOWN. High confidence requires a Tier 1 source, an official company announcement, or multiple reliable sources agreeing. If no reliable news explains a move, AnHot marks it as “Reason unclear” rather than guessing.

How often is the page updated?

The page refreshes every 5 minutes during US trading hours. Pre-market runs 04:00–09:30 ET, the regular session 09:30–16:00 ET, and after-hours 16:00–20:00 ET. When the market is closed, AnHot shows the latest session’s movers.
