LIMITATIONS

What the browser cannot prove

Fn, power and some media keys may be handled by hardware or the operating system. Browser shortcuts may never reach this page. Event timing is not a measurement of hardware latency or polling rate.

KEYBOARD NOT WORKING?

Check whether every key reaches the browser.

Press every key in the tester above. A key that never lights up may not be reaching the browser. Try another USB port or Bluetooth reconnect, compare with another device, and remember that the operating system can reserve some shortcuts.

KEYBOARD FAQ

Useful answers before testing

Why does the Fn key not appear?+

Fn is commonly handled inside keyboard hardware and may never reach the browser as a KeyboardEvent.

Why can’t some browser shortcuts be tested?+

The operating system or browser can reserve combinations such as Ctrl+W, Cmd+Q, Alt+F4 and F11 before this page receives them.

Does this test measure keyboard latency?+

No. Event arrival timing includes the browser and operating system; it is not a hardware latency or polling-rate measurement.

What is the difference between key and code?+

code identifies a physical position, while key shows the character or action produced by your current layout and modifiers.

Can this detect keyboard ghosting?+

It shows which simultaneous keys reached the browser for the combination you pressed, not a universal NKRO rating.

Does the site record what I type?+

No. Testing starts only when you choose Start, and the page stores key positions and counters—not a text string. Nothing is uploaded.
