A focused five-step check

  1. 01

Know that carbon-fibre filler is abrasive and wears plain brass quickly.

  2. 02

Choose hardened steel, tungsten-carbide or ruby for filled filaments.

  3. 03

Balance thermal conductivity against wear life for your flow needs.

  4. 04

Check which hotend thread the nozzle fits before buying.

  5. 05

Consider a hardened nozzle as a separate dedicated one for abrasive work.

GOOD TO KNOW

Hardened nozzles conduct heat less than brass — you may need a slightly higher hotend temperature for the same flow.
